round my hometown…

Right now, I’m sitting in my room. On my desk, are random sheets of paper filled with notes & to-do lists, a stack of magazines, movies I’ve been meaning to watch, and a number of other things adding to the clutter. On the floor, is my bag from the beach yesterday, that I have yet to unpack. Things I got from my mom’s store that I have to sort through. On my chair, there are multiple articles of clothing that I have worn or tried on in the past few days that have not made it into my laundry basket or back into my closet.

Usually, my messy room will drive me crazy and I’d feel compelled to at least tidy up a little bit. But not tonight. Tonight, I’d rather see clutter than a neatly organized and clean room. I think it represents my life in this moment. Things aren’t necessarily in the right places or where they belong but it’s not a bad thing. It just is what it is. And it works.

As of late, I am obsessed with Adele’s album. It may not be for everyone but if you’re in the mood for some really simple, yet heartfelt music that is GOOD, get her album ASAP. I love every single song on this album. I might love certain songs more but I rarely ever skip a song because I want to hear every single one. I appreciate every single one. Her lyrics really tell a story to me. They paint pictures. Her voice is just so amazing. Everything gets me. It puts me in my own little world and I almost never want to leave.

Music has always been a big part of my life. I love music. I’ve fallen off my music game a bit recently but I’m trying to play catch up. There’s just so much good music out there. I wrote a post earlier about my love of dance. And if I were a contemporary dancer, I would dance to Adele. Her music is so powerful and emotional that it would be the perfect complement to enhance a contemporary performance.

Today, this verse and one line in particular stuck out to me and it was in her song, Daydreamer.

Daydreamer, sittin’ on the seat
Soaking up the sun he is a
Real lover, makin’ up the past and feeling up his girl like he’s never felt her figure before
A jaw dropper
Looks good when he when he walks, he is the subject of their talk
He would be hard to chase, but good to catch and he could change the world with his hands behind his back.

I just imagined a young couple in love in the park. Just completely appreciating each other physically and emotionally. I guess certain songs will touch me more on certain days and today it’s a Hometown Glory kind of day. Here’s the video for Hometown Glory.

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I’ve met
Are the wonders of my world

Her music is so honest. It’s so real. I love the texture of her voice and her amazing control at only 21 years old. It’s so effortless. I’m not depressed in any sort of way. I’m actually happy in my life right now but I really feel and love the pain and heartache in some of her songs. Anyways, I found that her MTV Unplugged is actually online so I shall check that out, and you should too. So….sorry for the lengthy post. Didn’t intend on it being so long (pause). I hope you all enjoyed it! Or at least, I hope you gave Adele a try. Thanks for reading =)

Becky fact: I used to dance. When I was a Bucknell, I joined a hip hop dance group and also a Latin dance group. Unfortunately, I was only there for 3 semesters but during that time, I had so much fun performing and learning. If you ask me to dance now, I’ll most likely decline lol. I don’t know where I got the courage to join and perform in front of people but I’m extremely glad I did. Maybe one day I’ll revisit that chapter in my life but for now, I’m an appreciator of dance. But if anyone else is interested in taking dance classes, I’m so down! Let me know!
